Makerbot

Page history last edited by Roland Turner 9 years, 3 months ago

With luck we'll have a Makerbot CupCake CNC in the space by late March or early April.

  • Announce project
  • Seek pledges
  • Place order (2010-02-09)
  • Pay Makerbot (2010-03-24)
  • Order ships (2010-04-06)
  • Redeem pledges (completed 2010-04-14)
  • Receive kit
  • Assemble kit
  • Print first test object

Projected Costs

CupCake CNC Basic Kit 750
ABS / 5lbs / Natural 50
Freight estimate 150
TOTAL
US$950

Pledges

Person Pledged
Huang Yanying (SG$100) 70
Wong Koi Hin 200
Francis Bond (SG$150) 100
Carl Coryell-Martin 100
Roland Turner (US$200-500) 200
Tamás Herman (SG$100) 70
Meng

100

Chris Gomez (US$0-150)
John Young (SG$100) 70
Justin Lee (SG$100) 70
Kelvin Quee (SG$60) 40
Ruiwen Chua (SG$100) 70
TOTAL
US$1090

N.B. The "range" pledges from Roland and Chris are "I pledge the smaller amount, but if all else fails will contribute up to the larger amount".

Actual Costs

(Paid 24-Mar-2010)

CupCake CNC Basic Kit
750

USB to TTL Cable

20

ABS / 5lbs / Natural

(split 50:50 with John Young)

25
ABS / 5 Pounds / Black
(split 50:50 with John Young)
40
Freight
52
TOTAL

US$887

SG$1274

The excess of pledges over projected costs and of projected costs over actual costs totals about US$200! The majority of this excess is due to John Young's delivery workaround, many thanks John!

The SG$1274 is what PayPal converted US$887 into on 2010-03-24.

I (Roland) will seek payment in full from each pledger on the understanding that any surplus collected (including my own pledge) over what I've paid to Makerbot will be donated to HackerspaceSG with a "please consider spending this on expenses closely related to the CupCake CNC" request attached.

i'll be flying back from San Fran on Mar 5. Would it be helpful for me to offer my services as a mule?

The current advice http://store.makerbot.com/cupcake-cnc/cupcake-cnc-basic.html is "Batch #12 is expected to ship towards the end of March" so, sadly, not.
